Product release: Upgrading the design and platform's usability to offer a better user-experience

Q3 is here and the b.world team is excited to share it's latest product release with a design and usability upgrade to enhance our customers and user's experience as they design their impact projects.

Diving into impact measurement can feel scary. A task often daunting, laden with hours of manual work (hello, Excel!) can intimidate even those comfortable enough to talk data lingo.

So, we are dedicated to make your life and work simpler by automating the majority of the tasks that are manual labor intensive, like defining indicators or understanding the data you are tracking. We are also simplifying and automating, with the help of our friend, generative AI, project design and the strategic endeavors that are required to create an impact project level logframe or Theory of Change.

How do we achieve this? Well, it starts with our team's commitment to a user-centered design approach, spearheaded by our product manager and UX/UI researcher, Adina Fudym.

Our goal is clear: to make impact reporting not just achievable, but accessible, effortless, and fun.

Moving forward, every update and enhancement to our platform will revolve around this central mission. We're here to ensure that you can consistently report your successes and progress, whenever you need to, not just once a year.

Continue your journey towards streamlined impact measurement – where your job becomes easier and your outcomes and impact clearer than ever before.

This product update introduces design and usability updates, including a new dashboard, an upgraded login and registration process, and a simplified global and in-project navigation. Key updates include:

  1. A new dashboard: This is the only piece of new functionality introduced in this release. It consolidates all key pieces of information from across the platform into a single consumable view, including a SDG highlight bar & Insights feed.   Please note that global Map and global Tasks, which previously lived in the main navigation on the left-hand side of the platform, are now accessible just from the Dashboard.

2. Upgraded Login & Registration windows:

The Login page includes a handful of aesthetic updates for a cleaner, more refined look. The Registration page has also been updated aesthetically as well as informationally; the left-hand side of the screen now includes a series of key bullets which explain the value propositions of b.world.

That said, please feel free to direct any colleagues from within or outside your organization whom you think would benefit from b.world straight to b.world’s Registration page

3. Simplified global navigation: The left-hand global navigation has been simplified from eight items to four:

  • Global Stakeholders and Projects Elements have moved to the account navigational area located within the avatar silhouette at the top right of the screen.

  • Global Whiteboards has been removed altogether.

4. Simplified In-project navigation and workflow:

  • The navigation bar is now organized based on related tasks.

  • The Overview tab is now the Design tab— includes projects dates, challenge statement, proposed solution as well as a direct path to begin or continue designing your project in the Whiteboard, with the option to navigate to the Logframe.

  • The Stakeholders tab now includes the map and stakeholder functionality.

  • The Whiteboards separate tab has been retired.

  • Documents, Tasks and Budget have been bundled into Project Management.

  • The Logframe tab remains, but users will now be presented with more direct calls to action when beginning the Logframe for their project and the ability to access the whiteboard directly from this module.
